This is the latest installment in the Invisible Library series. Our trustworthy spy librarian is back in the danger zone with her new assistant (a very young Fae). Along with Irene on this mission is her lover Kai (a dragon) and old friend Inspector Vale. They are in the middle of a dastardly plot involving reanimating Fae and must get around some near- miss assassination plots which may or may not involve someone who is dead. They are also in the middle of some very fragile peace agreements between the mythical powers that be. I love these clever tales which have the feel of a good Victorian mystery but with the addition of supernatural creatures and a spunky librarian. Anyone who enjoys a take charge female lead, unusual sidekicks and a touch of fantasy will enjoy this series.  4 stars
