The Sequel by Jean Hanff Korelitz

We pick up right where we left off in THE PLOT and our new widow thinks she has it made with her publisher and agent bugging her about her next book. She thinks it will be a piece of cake (which it isn't) and to make matters worse she starts getting cryptic messages that someone out there knows the truth of where her late husband's book really came from. A snap of the fingers and Anna the black widow spider is at it again - eliminating anyone that gets in her way. Jean Hans Korelitz does a good job of keeping the tension high and filling in the blanks for anyone who didn't read the first book. You don't need to read the first to enjoy the second book but I recommend it for the full nail bitting experience. Anna Williams-Bonner makes for a glorious villain and you hold your breath hoping she will get justice but she is as clever as she is ruthless. Poking a bit of fun at publishers, book tours, marketing and writers, this is one for stone cold crime noir fans and books involving authors with dark humor who work themselves into their books like Anthony Horowitz.   4 stars
