This is a story of a dysfunctional family and marriage. Gil is father to two daughters and is an author but without a best seller in a while. He spends his time now coming through his library searching for letters that his wife has written over the years and he has now found after she left 11 years earlier. His
mind is starting to go as well as he keeps seeing his wife Ingrid (or her ghost) everywhere. After a fall both daughters come home to care for him and try to rebuild a family that has gone astray. Reading the letters it is easy to see that Ingrid was miserable for years and Gil was unavailable and inattentive. Too many years have passed and he is desperate to make things right with her. Their relationship told through the letters is an interesting way to tell the story of guilt, longing and mistrust and how that dribbles down to the daughters and their own relationships.

What would you do to save the person you love? Travel back in time to an alternative universe maybe?
Tom Barren is an average guy who is overshadowed by his famous physicist father who just happened to invent a time machine. His mom has just died and she really was the only person who cared about Tom until he met and messed up Penelope's chances for time travel. He goes back to an alternative universe where he is a big deal (and named John) meets the sister he didn't have and finds another really lovable Peggy (Penelope). Even though this reality is more difficult to live in ( you have to choose what to wear and eat) he really likes it much better and has a few problems to correct from what he did earlier which gets messy. The first person pace is fast and witty but don't be surprised if you get a bit mixed up along the way with all the time travel possibilities. It is an interesting way to look at life choices - if you could go back and change things, would you? Edie is a body which means she takes a lovely pill, adds something personal from the person she is channeling and helps grieving people spend time with the deceased. What happens to someone whose whole life consists of pulling other lives out every day.? Sounds creepy but it is a job for her until she adds a new client who has lost his beautiful wife and begins to want her old life more than the one she has off hours. Getting involved with the client is unthinkable and Edie soon wants to find out more about the suicide of wife number one while falling in love with Patrick. A murder will soon cast suspicion on the company and bad things begin to snowball. This futuristic thriller raises some interesting questions and moral dilemmas.

The story is a combination of innocence amidst the violence where sex is confused with love. Their magic vision gives the people of Montreal and New York during the depression hope and restores their innocence. This is a sad love story beautifully written with luscious imagery . Their haunting tale will stay with you from the first snowflake.
