The Pirate Hunters by Robert Kurson

looking for a great beach read?  Join the crew for one of the largest pirate treasure hunts in history! Here's a tease-
"...crew planned to move in lanes seventy-five feet wide, each of which stretched for a mile, then to dive every one of the hits the mag detected, looking for any iron remnant from the wreck of the Golden Fleece. If the first grid failed to produce evidence of the shipwreck, the men would set up a new grid, adjacent to the last, and survey that area, and they would continue expanding, mowing more lawns until they'd found their pirate ship.
But Bowden had provided the men information from historical records that helped narrow the search. The Golden Fleece, he told them:

---had sunk in twenty-four feet of water
—had muskets scattered on her deck
—had been careening when confronted by the Royal Navy warships "

The Little Paris Bookshop by Nina George

A good book can solve a lot of problems. At least that has always been the philosophy of Jean Perdu and his "literary apothecary" floating book barge on the Seine River in Paris. While he finds the perfect book to cure all life's ills for others, he is unable to help himself get over the one true love of his life that got away. When Catherine moves into his apartment building and forces him to read a letter revealing all, Jean is cast adrift in a sea of emotion and regret. He un-tethers his barge and with the help of two unlikely seamates, begins to float away from Paris searching for answers. Selling books along the way to make ends meet, the three will find themselves while saving others. This is a book lovers book for only book lovers know the power of the written word to heal a heart. Jean must be unmoored to find the perfect harbor. The author's description of all the lovely river towns will make you want to join this merry band of misfits in their search. Perfect for lovers of "The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry" and "The Pilgrimage of Harold Fry" - you will laugh, you will cry and you will cheer for the power of love and books.  This book will be out on June 23rd.

For fans of Lee Child, Michael Connolly and Nelson Demille comes "The Governor's Wife". Everyone knows that Chicago politics is a haven for corruption, greed and power so it comes as no surprise when the Governor of Illinois is convicted and should be sent downstate to the pen. The surprise happens when the Governor disappears at the courthouse leaving his wife and the public confused and angry. When a private detective is hired through an email to find the missing Governor with a promise of a lot of money the only surprise is who hired him and why. As the search continues and the layers of lies are peeled back Micheal will see just how fat this political onion is. Solid crime novel with the classic hardened detective who just happens to have a heart of gold.

In a small village a mysterious magician named the Dragon comes to whisk away a fair maiden and drag her back to his castle. They go willingly because this is the deal the Dragon has with the villagers in return for his protection. The girl everyone least expects is chosen because of her magic ability and there begins a strange yet beautiful relationship between Agnieszka and the Dragon. A magic spell has fallen over the Kingdom and it has to do with the mystical wood that takes people and changed them into heartwood. The question is this- can Agnieszka and the Dragon muscle up enough magic to keep the Wood from taking control of the village and the people Agnieszka loves? This is an old world fairy tale with hints of Eastern Europe. With the exception of one scene this book is the perfect young adult crossover for the summer. My thanks to the publisher for the advance copy.

We all make mistakes and it is how we handle things after that sets us apart. A book arrives on Catherine's doorstop that will forever change her life. As she whips through she is horrified to see that it is about her and something awful that happened in her past, something that has been kept secret until now. Across town a widower has discovered some secrets his wife has kept hidden and will now exact payback for a tragedy in their past. This powerful book looks at guilt and grief from both sides setting the revenge train in motion leaving us, the bystanders, to the horror that will certainly take place. You will be like Catherine, reading till all hours knowing your life has changed and you are powerless to stop it.
