When a group of dissatisfied retirees in a Swedish retirement home decides to take matters into their own hands things get a bit out of control. New management has moved into the home and gone are the good food and satisfying lifestyle they once enjoyed and in its place-more rules, less food and less fun. They decide to do something about it and after a powwow session powered by fruit liquor, run off for a lovely holiday at a posh hotel followed by a daring art heist. Everything that can go wrong does down to their idea of living the good life in prison to trying to make things right. Martha and her merry band may not be the best criminals but the do get away with quite a lot. Armed with nothing more than their walkers and their wits this group will prove that you are never too old to have a good time being bad. First published in Sweden and already a bestseller in Europe, this is a fun crime filled romp everyone who has ever had a beef with management will enjoy.

Sweet as molasses, heartwarming as pecan pie and dangerous as a boy's promises on a hot summer night - two half sisters set out on an adventure to get what is rightfully theirs and end up finding friendship and maturity. Judith is white and Cassie is black and they share the same no good dead- beat father who has run out on both families in search of his golden ticket, inheritance money from the family estate in Virginia. They decide that part of that money should be theirs and they set out in a junk car and no money from Mississippi to Virginia in time for the decision over the money.
With a bit of luck , some truly kind souls along the way and a lot of moxie these two innocent girls manage to land on their feet. Wonderful heartfelt and undeniably Southern, this debut written by a Yankee author is sure to put a smile on your face. Elka is raised by a trapper she thinks of as an adopted father after he takes her in as a young child only to find out later that he is a sadistic killer. She flees into the wilderness with only her instincts and a knife to be joined by a lone wolf pup along the way. The people she meets while trying to find her real parents who left to strike it rich panning for gold do not always have the best intentions and many times Elka is making it out barely alive after putting them at risk and only one step ahead of the trapper. She does get help from a few good people, one of whom is a rescued girl sold into prostitution. Powerful and gut-wrenching this is a tale of good, evil and redemption. Described by her friend as a "diamond in the rough", Elka is afraid to love anyone for fear that she will bring them harm. Unless she can make amends by delivering the devil into the hands of justice, Elka will walk the road alone condemned by her own feelings of guilt and self-loathing.
A new game show similar to "Survivor" starts out pretty much as you would expect. There are the usual jealousies, bad jokes, macho behavior and mild bullying we have come to love. This changes as each of the contestants head off for the solo survival portion. At first, Zoo (the name the show's producers gave her) was freaked out by the bloody props staged for the cameras but after each sighting she reminds herself that it is all staged. That is, until a young boy follows her and tells her stories of a sickness that has everyone scared and dying. Suddenly, the bodies might not be props and the danger may be very real. As they fight to make it back to her home and husband Zoo and Brennan form a close bond and learn to trust one another. There must be other survivors out there from the show and the real world and knowing for sure must be better than imagining the worst - or is it? The surprise ending hopefully means that this book isn't "The Last One".
