A new game show similar to "Survivor" starts out pretty much as you would expect. There are the usual jealousies, bad jokes, macho behavior and mild bullying we have come to love. This changes as each of the contestants head off for the solo survival portion. At first, Zoo (the name the show's producers gave her) was freaked out by the bloody props staged for the cameras but after each sighting she reminds herself that it is all staged. That is, until a young boy follows her and tells her stories of a sickness that has everyone scared and dying. Suddenly, the bodies might not be props and the danger may be very real. As they fight to make it back to her home and husband Zoo and Brennan form a close bond and learn to trust one another. There must be other survivors out there from the show and the real world and knowing for sure must be better than imagining the worst - or is it? The surprise ending hopefully means that this book isn't "The Last One".
