Smoke by Dan Vyleta

A private school in what could be Victorian England where young men are exposed to and fight against sin in the form of smoke or soot. Imagine that every time you think about sin you leave a trace behind on your clothes, on your body or in the air. The world knows what you are thinking, or feeling and you will be punished for this. Young men of good upbringing come to the school to relieve themselves of this sin and one day a couple will discover that some of them are not what they claim to be. Such is the world of "Smoke". A group of two young gentlemen and a young lady find themselves at a crossroads wanting to discover the truth behind experiments and a cure for smoke.
Persecuted by the authorities and a zealous relative they go into hiding. They will soon discover that not all that smoke are sinners and some of the worst offenders remain hidden. Political intrigue with a Dicken's like feel make this a fantasy thriller with an altered historical story.
