There are certain Swedish authors who can make you see yourself in every quirky character even when you think you have nothing in common with them. Henny has a problem. She has just been hit by a truck and has passed away but is doing her darndest to still control the situation as a ghost. The small Oregon town where she has always lived and more importantly, the inhabitants of the only motel, are distraught and the boyfriend she just reunited with is beside himself. Henny is powerless to help soothe or interact with them but still, she keeps willing things to go her way. Henny's death ignites a long feud between certain townspeople and the staff at the Pine Away and it will take much courage, a lot of understanding and a little love for it all to work out. Tempers flare but hopefully love does as well and they can all agree on WWHD (what would Henny do). For fans of Fredrik Backman, Fannie Flagg or any reader in need of a feel-good book that allows you to shed a cathartic tear or two.
