WWII is raging in London and fearing for the safety of their young daughters, the Royal family is separated and Elizabeth and Margaret are sent to a safe remote manor in Ireland. They are tucked away using false names and under strict security yet the chance that their identity is known could alert the Germans putting them in great danger. Even though they are homesick, the girls deal with their circumstances with their usual calm detached manner but the Duke of Edenmore, the girl's secret service detail (posing as a chaperone)and the Irish agent sent to keep them safe all feel anything but calm. Surely it would be simple enough to hide two little girls in the wilds of Ireland? While everyone feels the biggest threat comes from the Germans, it may be that certain groups in Ireland are not happy with the secret guests. Politics, a long-standing feud, a country divided and one miserable war feed into this account of what may have happened to the British princesses. For any WWII historical fiction fan and those who enjoy secret acts of heroism.

A post-apocalyptic look at love and loss. A young pop singer whose father controls her fame and future, a young woman who plans happy events but really isn't happy and a man who must now be a single parent to his spunky young daughter but can't get over the loss of his wife. Grief and opportunity for a fresh start after a global flu virus wipes out much of the population is the central theme of this story. This is a great choice for readers who usually don't get into dystopic fantasy because the problems of these characters work in today's pre-apocalyptic world.
This is the second book in the series and even darker and more mysterious than THE HAZEL WOOD. Alice is back from her other world and living half a life in London. She meets up with others from that world that have escaped but soon discovers that they are being picked off by a monster. She and Finch must find out what is going on and try to stop this new more dangerous world from being formed. A darker side of Narnia and all the best elements of gothic fairy tales, Melissa Albert creates a mysterious world that is as breathtaking and seductive as it is dangerous. For young adults but adults who love dark fantasy will leap into this with both feet.
At a high school in Austin a group of teens who call themselves "the Vindicators" begin to join in an online game with an A.I. who calls themselves God. Promising great riches and rewards but also severe punishment for losing the group think it is a harmless game until they find themselves locked into a very powerful and deadly game with some frightening repercussions. GOD has control over all their devices, virtual reality glasses, social media and it seems over any online systems. The worst part is that the game is only over when GOD says it is over. This scary A.I. plays with our emotions and greatest fears preying on adrenaline-seeking teens. Take a group of super stressed out, highly driven teens and give them an opportunity to exert control on their environment then sit back and wait for the chaos to ensue and you have THE GOD GAME. Intense thriller/science fiction that hits a little too close to reality to make you comfortable. This will appeal to teens and adults who enjoy borderline futuristic, creepy thrillers that make you think.
An amazing story of survival, human decency, and unspeakable violence that pertains to today's unsettled world. Lydia and her young son are on the run after watching their family gunned down at the hands of a powerful Narco kingpin. Knowing that they are not safe in Mexico and that their only hope is crossing the border to the US they are suddenly put into a world they know nothing about. Lydia and Luca's journey and experience will change you and the way you look at the conflict at the border. Even knowing that this is a work of fiction the truth and violence at the border and the people forced to make this journey feels all too real. Thank you for allowing me as a reader to walk a mile in their shoes. Not only is this one heck of a good thriller but it will also appeal to readers who want to understand a powerful story from someone else's perspective.

A posting for eligible women of high moral fiber to travel from Chicago on a wagon train to California where they will look at the gold miners as future husbands. Some have dead-end lives in the Midwest caring for their family, spinsters without prospects but some are running from their violent past. The road to California for these Midwestern women will be dangerous but not as dangerous as staying. Sandra Dallas does an excellent job of portraying the unglorified truth about these wagon trains and the Westward migration. They dealt with danger from weather, starvation, disease, unwanted attention from men and an angry Native American population. For fans of classic westerns and historical fiction such as 1000 White Women. There are certain Swedish authors who can make you see yourself in every quirky character even when you think you have nothing in common with them. Henny has a problem. She has just been hit by a truck and has passed away but is doing her darndest to still control the situation as a ghost. The small Oregon town where she has always lived and more importantly, the inhabitants of the only motel, are distraught and the boyfriend she just reunited with is beside himself. Henny is powerless to help soothe or interact with them but still, she keeps willing things to go her way. Henny's death ignites a long feud between certain townspeople and the staff at the Pine Away and it will take much courage, a lot of understanding and a little love for it all to work out. Tempers flare but hopefully love does as well and they can all agree on WWHD (what would Henny do). For fans of Fredrik Backman, Fannie Flagg or any reader in need of a feel-good book that allows you to shed a cathartic tear or two.
This book continues the story of the ancestors of THE QUEENS OF INNIS LEAR but with a new twist. In a world caught unaware in a political coup a war is about to begin that will set three friends and lovers against each other. The unusual element in this story is the gender switch of traditional roles and titles. Here, princes and knights are women and it is not uncommon for witches and mages to be men. We also see the political pairing of these three women in traditional marriages where their heart is with another strong woman. Violent and very political but you get a true sense of the unfairness of having to rule. Because the roles are not gender-specific we see a different side of what would normally feel like a medieval battle or something out of GAME OF THRONES. The magic of Innis Lear mixed with the political backstabbing makes for an interesting twist on the Shakespearean classic.
This will appeal greatly to young adults as well as adults. Welcome to the future where everything you want or the algorithm knows you want is there at your fingertips. What's best for you is decided by the best algorithm in the best country, Qualityland and it comes to you instantly. Everyone is living their best life except for Peter Jobless and a handful of others who just don't seem to fit the mold and want to make their own decisions (gasp!). Along with his jolly army of misfit robots and some interesting new friends, they will take on the man who is responsible for Qualityland. Very funny, stupendously sarcastic and all too true a vision of where we are going, this is the most fun I have had reading in a while. It is easy to see why Europe is loving QUALITYLAND and it is not too big of a stretch to say that THESHOP is banking on readers here loving it too.
A man is found on a winter beach in England. He doesn't speak and doesn't have any idea who he is or why he is there only a name and the knowledge that he must find this woman. When a well-known psychiatrist is called in to investigate the case of Mr. Nobody she knows it will mean returning to her childhood home that she fled after something bad happened. Little does she know what taking on this case will mean. An intense plot that you will have trouble putting down near the end and it will take you on a roller-coaster of emotions. It felt like a cross between THE SILENT PATIENT and Jason Bourne.
